What We Believe
Here at Santee UMC, we strive to live out our faith through:
Belonging, Becoming, and Being.
We affirm and welcome you, in all that you are. You belong here.
We put an emphasis on growth, and becoming disciples for the transformation of the world.
We believe that as the Body of Christ, we are called to go out into our community and BE the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Love is a verb, and we are called into action.
We are part of the Reconciling Ministries Network. We welcome and affirm people of every gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orierntation, who are also of every age, race, ethnicitiy, ability, and of every economic, immigration, and social status. As followers of Jesus, we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.

United Methodist Church
We are part of the United Methodist Church, a global denomination that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world. The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
A United Methodist is someone who joins in that mission by putting faith and love into action. We believe that God loves all people, and that we share in expressing that love. So the United Methodist tradition emphasizes God's grace and in serving others. We believe that Jesus Christ is the fullest expression of God's love--showing us the fullness of God's care through Jesus' teachings, death and resurrection.
John Wesley started the Methodist movement in 18th century England. His teachings on practical divinity (living out our faith) and appeals to reason and experience form important aspects of United Methodist practice today.

Nope! We welcome you to come as you are. We tend to be a fairly casually dressed congregation, but if dressing fancier feels more your style, feel free!

We offer Holy Communion during service on the 1st Sunday of each month, as well as on major holidays like Christmas Eve and Easter. As United Methodists, we believe Christ's Table is open to all, so you are always welcome to come forward and receive Communion. We use bread and unfermented grape juice, and offer a gluten free alternative for those who need it.
