Santee United Methodist Church

Sunday Worship at 9:30am

We invite you to join us this Holy Week

as we journey to the cross and into new life together!

April 2 at 6pm: Maundy Thursday

We’ll remember Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples before his execution. We'll remember how he washed his disciples' feet as we wash one another's hands. During this meal with his friends, he instituted what is now the sacrament of Communion, so we will share in Holy Communion together. We also remember that at this meal, Jesus gives us a new commandment: that we love one another (John 13:34-35). We will end this solemn observance by stripping the altar bare as we look ahead to Jesus' trial, torture, and public execution on the cross.

April 3 at 6:30pm: Good Friday

A Tenebrae service, this is our most solemn experience of the year. Alternating scripture readings and hymns, and shifting from light into darkness, we will remember the final moments of Jesus' life, from arrest and betrayal, to his public execution and burial in the tomb.

April 5 at 9:30am: Easter Sunday

Join us as we celebrate the risen Christ! A joyful service, we’ll start by creating a large flower cross together (bring a few cut flowers from home or a store-bought bouquet as you are able). Service includes Holy Communion.

Hang out afterwards for some coffee, treats, and fellowship, while children join in an Easter Egg Hunt!
