Pastor Christian grew up in La Mesa, graduating from Helix High School in 1991 and from SDSU in 1996 with a degree in Psychology. Christian is a third generation San Diegan and a lifelong United Methodist, attending La Mesa First UMC from birth. He participated in its Sunday School and youth programs, and volunteered as a youth worker there for several years until arriving at Foothills UMC.

Reverend Christian DeMent began serving at Foothills United Methodist Church as youth director in 1996.  During his time there he answered the call to ministry, attending Claremont School of Theology and receiving his Masters of Divinity in 2005.  In 2009, Reverend DeMent was ordained as an Elder in Full Connection in the Cal-Pac Conference and served as one of Foothill’s pastors until his appointment as Pastor of Santee UMC. He enjoys running, surfing, working on old cars and spending time with his family and friends.  Christian and his wife, Kelli, a teacher of 19 years in the Cajon Valley School District, love discovering new and unique restaurants in San Diego and exploring hidden play places with their son, Jack.
